Insight & Challenge

Delta aimed to redefine what modern air travel feels like, not just in the sky but at every digital touchpoint. The goal was to enhance the travel experience through technology, creating a seamless, human-centered journey from check-in to takeoff. The challenge was to transform existing kiosk and mobile systems within strict technical and infrastructural constraints while maintaining Delta’s premium brand image.

Solution

We redesigned the Fly Delta platform with a focus on simplicity, speed, and visual delight. The new interface streamlined check-ins, simplified upgrades, and introduced destination-driven photography to rekindle excitement around travel. These enhancements improved efficiency while also bringing emotion and brand storytelling into an otherwise transactional moment. The project became a milestone in digital travel innovation, introducing the first mobile boarding pass, which was later featured in Apple’s national TV and print campaigns, marking Delta as a true pioneer in the category.

Strategic Insight

Building for travelers of the future required rethinking the role of kiosks entirely. The Delta Kiosk Future Vision extended the digital journey beyond mobile, exploring how multi-device connectivity and contextual assistance could turn airport navigation into a frictionless, personalized experience. What began as a design exercise evolved into a forward-looking blueprint for Delta’s connected ecosystem, setting the foundation for how travelers would interact with the brand across platforms for years to come.
